Hemp For Victory

Among the major industrial nations, the U.S. stands out in its insistence on not growing industrial hemp domestically. This plant, which lacks the chemical substance that gives cannibis its hallucinogenic properties, is useful for food, clothing and auto parts products.

Here's a film produced by the U.S. government, promoting the growing of industrial hemp domestically to meet W.W. II needs. Hemp was used to make ropes for ships of the U.S. Navy.
