Sam and I attended Bill Clinton's first inauguration. That came to mind yesterday when I attended an Obama rally at which Clinton was the featured speaker. He's maintained his ability to state complex ideas in simple terms.
Last evening Janet and I attended a lecture given by Howard Fineman, a political writer for Newsweek and MSNBC analyst. He was a funny and interesting speaker.
I've appreciated Fineman's writing and commentary over the years; he goes back on the political scene to 1980. As he was not confined to speaking in soundbites for TV, he spoke at some length on several points, and I developed a deeper appreciation for his acumen.
