The Difference Between American and British Public Service

I've been researching the differences between in evolution and status of public service in America and Great Britain for a book I intend to write on renewing public service.

Anyway, there are quite a few similarities and a few significant differences.

It would be easier to compare the two public service systems, but the two countries have some different Cabinet Departments (Ministries in England).

Here's an example of where the British have us beat.
