After 6 months of waiting for the "right moment", I loaded the latest Mac OS onto my iMac. With only a few glitches, I was able to set up "Time Machine", a feature which automatically and continually backs up everything on my computer's hard drive to an external hard drive.
Also, I set up a MobileMe account which lets me store files on an Apple server, so I can access key files (e.g., writing projects, pictures of Mizz and baby D) on any computer (or iPhone) connected to the Internet.
Plus, I set up a secure home network.
