I came across an PBS program called Life (Part 2) geared to "older" viewers. Apparently all the guests are "Boomers" or older. I enjoyed an interview with Carl Reiner, 85 and going strong. He promoted the positive impact humor has on one's well being. Now, if I can remember to watch next week's show ...
This Wednesday we're off to NYC for the day to catch Angela Lansbury in the play Deuce. I plan to scarf up another soft pretzel from a street vendor. Must be the water, as these soft pretzels have the same distinctive taste they had when I was in grade school.
During lunch break, I used to spend a few coins to buy soft pretzels from a grandfatherly man who sold goods in front the school yard. I also enjoyed a Kool-Aid tasting liquid that were sold in tiny wax "bottles". Getting at the drink required biting off twisting off the wax "cap".
I was surprised to reconnect with the NYC soft pretzel a few years ago, when we started going to the Big Apple for plays. I've since found out from some Philadelphia friends that the City of Brotherly Love also has a distinctively shaped soft pretzel with a unique taste. They are good, but I still prefer the NYC version.
